Namaste Spiceland is a distinctive spot in Pasadena that blends an Indian grocery store with a casual vegetarian restaurant, offering a practical one-stop experience for both food shopping and dining. Tucked on North Hill Avenue, this neighborhood fixture serves up intensely flavored vegetarian Indian dishes alongside a well-stocked store of Indian pantry essentials, snacks, and spices.

The space divides neatly between a compact grocery area and a modest eat-in or takeout counter. The restaurant specializes in vegetarian fare, drawing locals who appreciate authentic Indian flavors with generous portions and good value. Diners can typically expect the kind of no-frills, straightforward atmosphere where the focus is on the food rather than ambiance.

Namaste Spiceland works well for anyone looking to grab a quick, satisfying meal—whether a combo plate or smaller snacks like pani puri, samosas, or dabeli—as well as those who want to browse a diverse selection of Indian grocers. The counter staff have a reputation for friendliness and sometimes offering food samples, creating a welcoming vibe even during busy lunch hours.

Because parking is free and the place can get crowded around midday, arriving early might be best for a relaxed experience. The vegetable dishes and their Indian bread options, such as garlic naan, come in generous portion sizes, though some dishes can be a bit oily, reflecting the authentic cooking style rather than a polished restaurant presentation. Vegan and vegetarian eaters will find plenty of choices here.

In short, Namaste Spiceland suits those seeking authentic vegetarian Indian food paired with the chance to shop for Indian ingredients without leaving the neighborhood. It’s a practical stop for Pasadena locals wanting hearty, flavorful meals alongside grocery essentials, particularly convenient for those who enjoy exploring Indian cuisine both at the table and home cooking.

This is a great little spot for inexpensive and super tasty vegetarian Indian food. The staff behind the counter have always been friendly and generous with samples. Today, I ordered the Special Cheese Dosa and they gave me a free cup of spicy vegetable soup just because I had to wait a couple of extra minutes for my order. So far everything we have tried at this place has been amazing. Getting a combo plate is a great way to try multiple curries in one visit. Full disclosure, I'm a big meat eater, but the vegetarian food at this place is so flavorful and satisfying that I actually crave it. They have some indoor and outdoor seating. Much less indoor currently than they had before the pandemic. The market has a good variety of frozen Indian food as well as tea, spices, dry and canned foods, snacks and treats. If you love Indian food flavors and/or really delicious vegetarian food you've gotta give this place a try!

We got vada pav (didn't get a photo), pani puri, dabeli and samosas. All were good and it made for a quick dinner. The green chutney was really tasty. The samosas were so nice and hot.

My favorite place to get Indian food. And you’ll have to forgive me but I love a buffet. Always changing and a chance to try new things that look good. There’s also a full menu if you want. And, like a true Indian buffet, you pay at the end. And…..before you pay peruse the full grocery store for a ton of snacks, cookies, and of course spices. There also a lot of groceries to choose from if you need some paneer or yoghurt. Highly recommend for a meal and an experience!

Half grocery store and half restaurant. The grocery store side has lots of different selections for Indian cuisine essentials. The restaurant is vegetarian only but offers amazing and authentic Indian food. The flavors are intense and delicious. The portions are quite good and you get a lot of value. The 3 item combo is the best deal and every item tastes great.

First time here. Great service. Garlic naan was delicious! Numerous vegan and vegetarian entrees to pick from. The combos are a great deal. Generous portions. Only area of improvement is the entrees were a bit on the oily side. Overall great value! Free parking lot. Can get crowded around noon. Recommend going early.

I came here with my husband one evening for dinner and we absolutely loved the food! It was so good, so authentic and they make a nice chai! We loved the buffet style ordering and the ease of choosing your starches and your mains. We will be back soon!
